VERSION-1.0: Released on 25 September 2023 on GitHub 🎉
I call it "Material Quantity and Cost Calculator"
As a former steel detailer 👔 and a graduate who did his 4 years bachelors in Civil engineering 🦺, I am on a mission and vision to strengthen bond between software & construction.
If you read my backstory, you will notice I had a rough time graduating during lockdown and lot’s of chaos is happening around me and How I was terminated from my company for being honest and straightforward. And, why I chose to be a software developer and so on…
Today I am here to share some insights regarding the “End-to-end project” that I have built with in a week and launched it’s basic version of it as “VERSION-1.0”.
What it does?
Here, you can see the screen shot of the project where it “seeks the input” and for some inputs it will consider default values (when user didn’t gave input). Then, it will perform the calculations and the results will appear on the white box shown below.
THIS IS NOT THE END PRODUCT 👀
As I said earlier this a basic version of the project I am working on and I will add more functionality and looks to it to make more reliable by users worldwide 🌏.
How many projects I am are going to build?
As a student learning JavaScript, I can work on hundreds of projects.
Initially I used to think that I need to work on 3 to 5 projects such as weather app, sudoku solver and so on…
But, when I chose the path of joining a construction related to SAAS company or startup as front-end developer with civil engineering background, “I CHOSE TO BUILD PROJECTS RELATED TO CONSTRUCTION”.
Hence, I chose this project which will grow in features equivalent to 3 to 5 projects.
The reason behind choosing one project.
Here, One project does not mean that I will work on only one project throughout my career as a front-end developer 😋.
I just chose one project just to go all in and learn the things that can’t be learn by building 3 to 5 half backed projects.
I mean, majority of programmers try to learn a lot in less time and try to build as many projects as possible to impress the recruiter. I am not saying this is bad and I apologize if my words hurt you. But, that what happening in the real world 🌏.
Hence, I chose one project that is based on my interest and planning such that I can improve it and level up my skills as a step-by-step VERSIONS in building it.
Am I trying to make this project my business or startup?
Wow, that’s a good question. And the short answer is “MAY BE”.
Although I am aspiring entrepreneur, I working on this project purely as a student learning “How to code and build things using the knowledge”.
This is one of the reason for openly sharing my HTML, CSS and JavaScript code of my project on GitHub.
In-fact I can say “NO”. But, I won’t.
Who knows I might join a startup where my project has a special role? or A founder have approached me and invited me to join him/ her to work on the project I have built.
Wish me all the best and please share your insights regarding my project. Thank you 🙂.
